How to stay looking young after 35

Is your skin looking a little wrinkly and dry?

Are the bags under your eyes eclipsing the twinkle in your eye?
Do you have a few more rolls around your mid-section than you care to admit?
Have you given up dying your ever greying hair?
If you answered YES to any of these questions, then keep on reading to find out my best kept secrets for how to keep looking young after 35 (or any age for that matter).

Time is unforgiving; that's a tale as old as time. So how do you keep from having to hike your boobs up higher and higher every year, or prevent your joints for creaking more than old hardwood floors?

I'll tell you how...

YOU CAN'T!

Seriously, stop hating on your body!

This vessel for your soul that you call home here on earth is a beautiful thing, including all of it's lumps and bumps. Getting older is a privilege! We should embrace every aspect of it and feel lucky that we're alive. So many others don't get the chance to. I remember the anguish I felt when I turned 30 (just 30! a baby!). I felt as though I hadn't accomplished anything I thought would have by that time. I was single (still am), my career was, well, non-existent, and while I couldn't point you in the direction of the nearest church, I know hands down who had the best happy hour in town.

I know it's easier said than done. Grab any women's magazine and try not to feel like a slovenly, overstuffed Thanksgiving turkey after just flipping through a few pages. It's impossible!
And so, as a reward for having it made this far, I now present to you my advice for keeping on looking your best:

- Drink your water!
I'm serious. Drink it. Your body needs it and even though I don't know you, I'm sure you probably don't get enough of it. Drink your water. Period. Also, no, coffee doesn't count. I mean, yes, in a way it does, but don't be lazy and pick-up a bottle (of water, not vodka)

- Buy some unrefined, virgin coconut oil.
It's all the rage these days and even though there's no evidence based data to support its health benefits, that shit smells fantastic and is good for your hair and your skin. You'd be putting chemicals on those two anyway, so this can't be any worse, right?

- Eat less.
Now, before you start nailing the two planks of wood together for my crucifixion, let me clarify. What I mean to say, is eat. only. when. you. are. hungry.
And I'm not preaching, because I am guilty of this as well, but how many times have you eaten something because you were bored? Or because you were sad? Or anxious? Or angry?
You get the point. Eat only when you're hungry and eat slowly. It's takes about 15 minutes for your brain to register when your stomach is full, so give it a break and slow down.

And that's it, ladies (and gentlemen). Drink your water, slather in coconut oil and eat only when you're hungry.

Comment below what other tips you have to stay looking young.
I'm gong to go drink my water.

All my love, Diana

Why you'd rather be dead than be disabled

Can we talk? Human to human? I know that discussing disability and disabled people in general makes you feel uncomfortable. We "look" weird, or "act" weird... sometimes both. How many times have you seen someone like me and thought "Man, if I had to be her, I'd rather be dead". I get it. There's been times when I see someone with a more severe form of my own disability and think "Shit, I don't know how they do it". I don't know where they get the strength to do life, one day after another. For me personally, this is a huge part of what fuels my fire. I look at these people and what's happening with poor legislation than affects them, lousy support programs, greedy funding for therapies (or lack thereof) and I know I NEED to do something about it. This fuel is what gave birth to NuGenerous. And while I'm not alone in how I approach my feelings about disability, I am aware that most people (the grand majority) don't...

“It would be better if you were paralyzed. From the waist down I mean”

“It would be better if you were paralyzed. From the waist down I mean” This is the kind of stupid shit I get from people sometimes. People who are unable to love and accept me for who I am.  Ignorant people who think you can categorize, hierarchize even, disabilities. Kind of like when you’re asked “would you rather be deaf or blind?” Ridiculous.  I feel like there’s always been a bit of a divide, an invisible wall if you will, between those of us BORN with a disability and those of us who ACQUIRED a disability at some point after exiting the womb.  There’s also an invisible wall between motorized wheelchair users and manual wheelchair users. One is better that the other apparently (more on that in a later post tho).  So now, not only am I being judged and ranked according to my disabilities compared to able-bodied people, but I’m also being judged and ranked in my abilities compared to OTHER disabled people. How about you “F*ck off” and you start judging me based on...

I’d rather be disabled than these 8 other things

Let’s play a game of Would you Rather.  (Disclaimer: being disabled does not preclude you from being any of the things listed below. You could very well be disabled and a turd at the same time. Yes, they exist. We are not all inspirational little angels sent here by God to help you feel better about your own life.) K, lets begin! We'll start with an easy one. 1. A sexual predator.  This is a no brainer, right? Or? Would you rather be a candy toting, white unmarked van driving pedophile, or never again feel the sand between your toes? Is this harder than you thought? Let’s move on to the next one… 2. A racist How about this one? If you had to choose between being a racist waste of space, or needing help to wipe your butt after using the bathroom… Which would it be? 3. Sexist Would you prefer to live your life feeling as though your genitals were the most valuable thing about you, or require assistance feeding yourself? 4. A xenophobe ...
